Georgetown Men's Lacrosse Shows the City of Brotherly Love Just How Impactful Siblings Can Be -- Connor Brothers Lead The Hoyas to a 12-9 Victory over UPenn
Folks...now is the time to hop on the bandwagon. After two weeks of postponements and reschedulings due to weather, the Georgetown Fighting Hoyas Men's Lacrosse team finally opened the 2026 season at Franklin Field against the Penn Quakers and let me be perfectly clear: this team has a legitimate chance to be playing in Charlottesville on Memorial Day Weekend.
The box score stars of the show were brothers Rory (7G, 1A) and Liam (5A) Connor who transferred to the Hilltop from Colgate this season. For those of you new to the sport, 7 goals in a game is an exceptionally rare feat. Rory was on fire. But I was equally as impressed with Liam's vision and unselfishness. They were in lock step all four quarters. Add in Lucas Dudemaine (3G, 1A), Joe Cesare (1G, 1A), and Jack Ransom (1G)-- this offense is going to be a nightmare to game plan against.
Defensively, aside from a few expected slide miscues and failed clears, the Dawgs looked fantastic. Anderson Moore (11 Saves) proved ready to live up to his preseason All-American hype. Probably one or two goals he'd like to have back, but overall he stood tall and cleared the ball very well against a tough 10-man ride. For those of you interested in watching a real life human vacuum, look no further than #37 Charlie McGurrin. The box score says he had 8 GBs, but it felt like 80. Also had a goal. Reminds me of a young Gibson Smith. Love the way McGurrin plays.
The Hoyas head to South Bend for a 12:30pm matchup against the #8 Notre Dame Fighting Irish this Sunday, 2/22 (ACC Network). Huge top 10 matchup. If i were a betting man, which I am, I'd be all over the Dawgs.
Hoya Saxa, Baby.
