Commanders 2026 Mock Draft
Commanders|Pro Sports|March 10, 2026|By James Barlia
Here's my best guess on all six Commanders picks, accounting for what they just did and didn't solve in free agency (summarized below, under the mock draft).
Round 1 — Pick #7
- 🎯 Caleb Downs | S | Ohio State — Oweh signing removes EDGE from the equation at #7, opening the board to the best available defender. Downs is the highest-floor prospect in this draft — elite IQ, versatile across the secondary, and a direct replacement for the Bobby Wagner leadership void.
Round 3 — Pick #71
- 🎯 Omar Cooper Jr. | WR | Indiana — Washington still has no credible receiver opposite McLaurin after a quiet free agency at the position. Cooper is the most consistently mocked Commanders pick at this slot and fills that need directly.
Round 5 — Pick #145
- 🎯 Harold Perkins Jr. | LB | LSU — Wagner is gone and Perkins had a confirmed Combine meeting with Washington. He's the highest-upside linebacker in the class and a perfect fit for Jones' coverage-heavy scheme.
Round 6 — Picks #185 & #196
- 🎯 Genesis Smith | CB | Arizona — developmental corner with length to add depth behind Robertson and Sainristil
- 🎯 Francis Mauigoa | G | Miami — interior OL depth addressing guard uncertainty with Chris Paul potentially gone
Round 7 — Pick #223
- 🎯 Gabe Orange | DT | Iowa — low-risk rotational interior lineman to add depth behind Settle and Tuttle
What The Commanders Did in Free Agency
Signed:
- Odafe Oweh | EDGE — 4-year, $100M ($68M guaranteed) from the Chargers. 17.5 sacks since 2024, 3 sacks in the playoffs.
- Amik Robertson | CB — 2-year, $16M ($9.3M guaranteed) from the Lions. Can play slot or outside.
- Deatrich Wise Jr. | DT — multi-year extension. Adds interior penetration the Commanders were lacking.
- Marcus Mariota | QB — re-signed on a 1-year deal as Jayden Daniels' backup.
- Andrew Wylie | OG — re-signed on a 2-year deal.
- Nick Allegretti | OG — extension. Three-time Super Bowl champion with Kansas City.
- Laremy Tunsil | OT — extended 2 years at $30M/year.
Released:
- Marshon Lattimore | CB — cut, clearing $18.5M in cap space.
- Tyler Biadasz | C — cut, clearing another $2.85M.
Missed on:
- Mike Evans — signed with San Francisco. Alec Pierce returned to Indianapolis.
